The Yaesu FT-891 is an amateur HF transceiver covering the 160 to 6 meter bands with 100 watts. It features a triple conversion general coverage receiver tuning 30 kHz to 56 MHz. Modes include AM, USB, LSB and CW. DSP technology supports QRM and noise reduction, auto notch and APF audio peak filter. Other features include: attenuator, 4-60 WPM keyer, TCXO, CAT port, auto power off, full break-in, backlit LCD and backlit keys. This radio is easy to operate. The large (1.6”) tuning dial has a torque adjustment. All front panel and top panel keys are placed in logical locations for simple and quick access to frequently needed controls. For example, a multi-function knob allows quick adjustment of the operating frequency in 500kHz steps. The QMB key is useful for Quick Memory Bank storing of 5 priority memories for quick recall. Another three front panel keys may be programmed to the user’s preference.
The removable front panel control head is connected to radio by a short jumper. Or there is an optional YSK-891 front panel separation kit. The front panel has a large dot matrix LCD display with a Quick Spectrum Scope. The TX/BUSY indicator on the front panel clearly informs the operator about the current state of the transceiver (for example --- it glows green when receiving signals while the squelch opens and turns red for transmit.
The FT-891 comes with: MH-31A8J hand mic, mic clip, MMB-82 mobile mounting bracket, spare fuse, Owner's Manual, Quick-Manual sheet and DC power cord. It requires 13.8 VDC at 23 Amps. 6.1 x 2 x 8.6 inches (155x52x218mm).
