Broadband Folded Dipole Antennas
![]() Barker & Williamson, established in 1932, is a recognized leader in worldwide in antenna design for high frequency communications. Their continuous coverage folded dipoles offers operation over large parts of the HF band without need for an antenna tuner. Their models BWD-90, BWDS-90 and BWD-180 provide full 1.8-30 MHz operation. Work any frequency you want without going through a lot of knob twirling and measurements to get a good SWR match - just set your frequency and go! Hop frequencies at any speed as long as you want, as there are no mechanical parts or active components to wear out. It is not limited to conventional ham bands. Tune any frequency in the antenna's bandwidth, and have VSWR of 2:1 or better. Capture weak signals in receive mode. Much better performance than any vertical. This antenna design provides an VSWR of less than 2:1 across the entire range when fed with a 50 ohm coaxial cable. (Please note that 6 meter operation is possible with a tuner at VSWR <3:1). Power rating is 1KW (2KW PEP).
