On Line: Most items (except Sony products, used items and unblocked scanners) may be ordered on line. Most, but not all, items are in stock. Our secure, dedicated e-commerce server, protected with 128-bit encryption, ensures your privacy. Some e-mail providers mistakenly classify our order confirmation e-mail as spam. Please check your Spam / Junk / Bulk e-mail folder to find the e-mail we send.

PAYMENT: We accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, JCB Card, money orders, cashiers checks and personal checks. Phone order customers please be ready to provide card number, expiration, issuing bank, billing and shipping address plus home & work phone (e-mail customers please provide this information also). We request this information for your protection. Money orders, cashiers checks and personal checks must be verifiable and will require three weeks to clear.

MINIMUM ORDER: We have no minimum. Your order is important to us whether it is for $5 or $500.

SHIPPING: We ship most orders within two business days (UPS Next Day and Second Day Air orders are shipped within 24 hours). Orders shipping to alternate addresses may require longer processing times. We ship Monday through Friday. Our normal method of shipment is UPS Surface. We may also ship small orders under $20 via the Post Office at our option. Priority mail is available on orders under $50, but will be more than flat rate shipping, depending on the item. We do not ship C.O.D. Universal Radio reserves the right at any time after receipt of your order to accept or decline your order for any reason. You may request shipment by other means such as UPS Next Day Air, UPS Second Day Air or Air Freight for export orders. Equipment is packed very carefully and sent insured. Please provide us with a full shipping address. UPS cannot ship to a Post Office box. We do not ship to private mail box services (e.g.. Mail Boxes & More). Shipping amounts indicated are for the continental USA only. Universal has a simple, flat-rate shipping schedule for U.S.A. customers (except AK, HI, PR) and is based on the total amount of the initial order. This order total is pre-coupon and pre-tax. Insurance is included. Coax orders over 201 feet are exempt. Sorry we do not drop ship. Universal is not currently accepting export orders, except to Canada.

SALES TAX: Universal Radio shall automatically charge and withhold the applicable sales tax (7.5%) for orders to be delivered to addresses within the state of Ohio. Each customer shall be solely responsible for all sales taxes, or other taxes, on orders shipped outside Ohio.

WARRANTY SERVICE: Our service department is authorized to perform warranty work on Kenwood, Icom, Yaesu, Japan Radio and other major lines. We only service radios sold by Universal Radio. We do not perform warranty repairs for all models or all brands. If you are not sure please call us. Copy of receipt must accompany returns for warranty repair. Please call or e-mail to obtain an RA (return authorization) number.

ALL REPAIRS: When sending in a product for service, please "double" box it carefully and ship it insured for your protection. Please include a note clearly describing the problem, how you wish the item returned and how you wish to pay for the service. Package your radio properly. Universal is not responsible for merchandise damaged in shipment. Our service rate is $60 per hour (½ hr. minimum).

BACK ORDERS: Universal carries an extensive inventory to minimize "back ordered" items. Because of manufacturer shortages, backorders do occasionally occur. If your item is not in stock you will shortly receive a backorder notice. You may cancel any backordered item at any time for any reason and receive a prompt and full refund. On credit card orders we will not bill your card until we actually ship.

RETURNS: Returned items must be received by us in original, as shipped, condition including the original box, manuals, accessories, copy of sales receipt and warranty card. Note:  Do not send in the warranty card, or rebate form until after 14 days, and you are certain that the product will suit your needs. Returns must be within 14 days of purchase. Returned items are subject to a 15% restocking fee. Shipping is not refundable. Outdoor antennas, rotors, headphones, installation charges, software and custom cables are not refundable. We will inspect and test any radio prior shipment at no additional cost if specifically requested.

FOREIGN ORDERS:
NOTE: Universal Radio is not currently accepting or processing export orders (except to Canada).
Foreign orders must be payable in U.S. dollars (contact you local bank for questions regarding exchange rates). You may use Visa, Mastercard, JCB, Discover card, postal money order or bank check drawn on a U.S. bank with transit numbers imprinted on bottom of the check. Shipping amounts indicated in the catalog and website are for the U.S.A. only. We can provide shipping quotes. There will be custom and/or import fees. For questions regarding VAT, brokerage fees or other taxes that may be charged on imports into your country, please contact your local customs officials. We do not ship large amateur antennas, scanners and certain other items outside of the United States. Most manufacturer's warranties are not valid outside of the United States. Warranty service items therefore must be returned to Universal Radio with the user being responsible for shipping both ways. Manufacturer rebates are valid for U.S.A. customers only. Free promotional items that are sent directly from the manufacturer are valid for U.S.A. customers only. The products and radios Universal sells are typically the North American versions, and therefore may not be suitable for use in other parts of the world. European customers should also note that most devices we carry are not CE certified and therefore may not clear European customs. In such cases, the customer will be responsible for return shipping fees to Universal Radio. Foreign customers are responsible for shipping to and from Universal Radio on warranty service. Foreign orders must be shipped by UPS Air. We can no longer ship international orders through the Post Office (except to Canada). Universal Radio reserves the right to not export certain items for support reasons. If an order is refused and returned, Universal Radio will not refund the original shipping and will deduct the cost of return shipping.

DAMAGED SHIPMENTS: If you receive a damaged parcel from UPS, note this with the driver and refuse the shipment. It will be returned to Universal and we will replace it for you at no additional cost.

COUPONS: Many amateur manufacturers run coupon promotions. Universal will accept and can supply these discount coupons. Check out the Special Offers to see what coupons are currently available.


USED LIST: Our latest list of Used Equipment can be viewed from our web site. This listing is updated twice a week. Although our used inventory changes daily, we typically have a nice selection of transceivers, receivers, HT's, RTTY equipment and related accessories on hand. Our used equipment is checked in our service shop and carries a 60 day limited warranty.

PURCHASE: If you have equipment you are not using, why not turn it into cash? Universal will purchase good clean used equipment. Please write us, and let us know what you have to sell.

"DEMO" SALE: Universal will not sell returned or demonstrator units as new! From time to time we have such items and can usually offer them at 15 to 25% off our regular price. Please call to check availability.

TRADE-INS: For trade-in quotes, please call or write us listing the items you wish to trade including any optional accessories. Indicate condition and whether you still have the original box and manual. Unlike some other dealers, Universal will accept trade-ins on any equipment: new, used, higher or lower value. Please allow 7 days for the evaluation of traded-in items. We only accept trade-ins from the continental U.S.

LAY-AWAY: Universal offers a convenient layaway plan. To place any new item in layaway for up to sixty days, a 33% deposit is required. 33% more is required at 30 days. The balance is required at 60 days (or sooner). The item will be shipped after full payment. There are no service or interest charges. Lay-aways must be arranged by phone, letter or store visit. Lay-aways cannot be currently arranged on-line.

SHIPPING TO UNIVERSAL: When you ship your equipment for trade-in or purchase it is important that it is packaged properly. Use the original box and packing material if possible. If you do not have the original box, wrap the equipment well with bubble wrap then place this in a box with adequate packing material. All equipment should then be placed in a second box with packing material to help ensure its safe arrival to us. Please be sure to insure your package for its value. Universal Radio will not be responsible for equipment that is damaged in shipment to us.

CUSTOMER INFORMATION: Universal Radio does not sell, rent, lease or trade customer information with any other company.

ATTENTION EBAY SELLERS: To avoid confusion please do not "cut and paste" from our website catalog. This is copyrighted material and a violation of Ebay policy.
