Heathkit - The Early Years
From the author of the book Heath Nostalgia, comes a fascinating CD treasure of Heathkit history in picture and sound. Terry Perdue includes over 900 quality JPEG scans of photographs he saved from the dumpster when Heath evacuated one of its warehouses. Two of the boxes saved were marked 'Heath history to day one', and contained hundreds of photos of both the Benton Harbor and Hilltop plants, including lab, office and manufacturing areas, Hilltop plant construction, aerial views, employees, etc. They also contained many clippings from the local newspaper, The Herald-Palladium, chronicling plant expansions, acquisitions, promotions, etc. All of these are included on the CD, plus color scans of early catalogs and flyers, new employee booklets, brochures, the kit builder's guide, special Heath publications, pages from in-house newsletters, product photos, magazine articles, several very early manuals, and much more. There are also several historically significant .doc files. There is even a fascinating 30 minute .WAV file made by the late Gene Fiebich, who was Director of Engineering, of his memories of Heath's early years.
