PC450

One of the appealing aspects of the M-450v1.5 reader is that it is self-contained. Its normal operation does not require a computer or a monitor. However, there may be applications where the use of a PC to control the M-450v1.5 and to capture text data may be desirable. With this in mind, the M-450v1.5 does feature an RS-232 serial port (DB-9F). Then using an ASCII terminal, or a personal computer running a terminal emulation program such as PROCOMM, the M-450 may be remotely operated (to a limited degree), and incoming text may be displayed and/or archived by personal computer. The serial port on the terminal or PC must be set to: 4800 baud, 8 data bits, no parity and 1 stop bit (4800, N, 8, 1). (The FAX imagery cannot be displayed captured via the serial port).

A simple DOS-based program called PC450 is included with your M-450v1.5. This program, supplied on a 3.5 PC diskette, will provide remote control and operation of the M-450v1.5 via either a 4800 baud serial COM port or a standard Parallel LPT port on a PC. (Cables are not provided).
