The Icom IC-28A is a well-built 2 meter FM mobile transceiver providing 25 watts of power. There is also a setting for 5 watts output when less power is needed. The backlit LCD display is readable over a wide range of light. This radio has 21 memories. It also has programmed scanning or memory scanning. This radio requires 13.8 VDC at 6.0 amps.
The Icom IC-28H is the same as the IC-28A, but transmits with 45 watts (instead of 25 watts) and requires 9.5 amps. It has a large heat sink in the back
The Icom IC-38A is the same as the IC-28A, but operates on the 220-225 MHz band, 25/5 watts instead of 2 meters.
The Icom IC-48A is the same as the IC-28A, but operates on the 440-450 MHz band, 25/5 watts instead of 2 meters.
The Icom IC-1200A is the similar to the IC-28A, but operates on the 1200 MHz band instead of 2 meters.
