Chameleon Zepp Antenna

The revised Chameleon Zepp has been specially designed for apartments, condominiums, homeowners associations, deed restrictions and CCRs (Covenants, Conditions & Restrictions), ARES, RACES, MARS, EMCOMM, NVIS, First Responders, Emergency Preparedness and attic antenna installation. It is a true base station or portable stealth antenna. The antenna is 75 feet long and covers 80 through 10 meters. The Zepp is composed of a 25 foot matching section and a 50 foot radiator. To eliminate possible RFI the antenna is attached to a UNUN 1:1. The antenna terminates to an SO-239 and can be directly be connected on an external antenna tuner with a 1 foot jumper cable (not supplied). A maximum of 100 feet of low loss coax cable such as RG-8X can also be added.

A more horizontal configuration of the Zepp antenna will be good for local communications (NVIS from 0 400 miles) on 40 meters (day evening) and 80 meters (night). A vertical installation will provide a horizontal polarization and will benefit long-range communications on 40 meters and below. To maximize long distance communications such as DX contacts it is preferable to have a nice line of sight with the horizon. It is also very important to avoid any metallic surfaces to get in contact with the 50 foot radiator.

The antenna can be installed in different configurations such as:  Vertical, Horizontal, Sloped, Inverted L, Inverted U, Inverted V or even vertically twisted around a fiberglass mast or wooden core. This antenna can handle up to 500 watts SSB PEP.
