The Kenwood TH-79A features an alpha-numeric dot matrix display which can be entered into memory allowing you to name repeaters instead of actual frequencies. The unique guide function provides simple operating instructions that appear in the display at a touch of a button. You even personalize the radio to display your own call sign (up to 7 characters) at power up. Dual frequency receive functions include full duplex cross-band operation and the ability to receive two frequencies on the same band (V/V or U/U). CTCSS tone encode and decode are standard. Includes auto power-off, 3 output power levels, battery save function. This HT is only 2.3 x 5.2 x 1 inches 12 oz (56x130x25mm 320g). This HT includes a NiCad battery, BC-17 wall trickle charger, belt clip, wrist strap and BNC flexible antenna. The Kenwood TH-79AKSS was later production that added support for the KSS - Kenwood Sky Command System. This system supported the remote operation of select Kenwood transceivers such as the TS-570S and TS-870S.
