Three watts of RF is available with the optional EBP-10NA NiCad battery and up to 5 watts is available with the optional EBM-12NA. Channel steps include: 5, 10, 12.5, 20 and 25 kHz. CTCSS encode is standard. The informative LCD is backlit and has a five second timer. You get 20 memory channels and 1 call channel. Three different paging functions are supported and multiple scanning functions are built in. Extended receive lets you hear from 137 to 174 MHz.

The Alinco DJ-162TD comes with EDH-1 dry cell battery case, belt clip, hand strap and flexible antenna. 2.14 x 5.4 x 1.25 inches 0.77 lbs (57x142x32mm 350 g).

The Alinco DJ-162T version is the same, but includes a battery and charger instead of the drycell battery case.
