The Heil FIN is the newest addition to the Deco Series in the Professional line at Heil Sound is The Fin. The Fin utilizes the PR20 element so popular in the professional audio realm, and it is housed in a gorgeous high-gloss chrome-finish enclosure reminiscent of the gorgeous Heritage microphone. If phantom power is provided to The Fin, the blue wind screen becomes illuminated by four imbedded LEDs, adding to the art deco appearance of this nice-sounding microphone. (This illumination can only occur when the using the FIN into one of 3 pin balanced XLR inputs of a professional mixing console that supplied a +48VDC phantom voltage down the balanced mic line. A small slide switch on the bottom the Fin must to be switched to on. Its "Cool Factor" is without peer! The exceptional performance is achieved by the use of a special magnet structure with a large 1 1/18" aluminum low mass voice coil assembly. The frequency response is 60 Hz to 18 kHz with the traditional Heil sound mid range bouquet at 4 kHz which presents incredible brilliance and presence. The Fin exhibits a tight linear cardioid pattern. This microphone comes in a very nice aluminum carry case with a cloth mic pouch. This microphone does not include a cable or stand.
You can get the phantom power to light up The Fin from popular equalizer boxes, such as the inexpensive Behringer« UB-802. You need to buy or wire-up a cable from the ╝" phone jack on the equalizer to your mic jack (note that many rigs have a simple RCA jack labeled "Patch" on the rear panel, and this is just an alternate mic jack, in parallel with the main one).
Note: the phantom power requirement for The Fin is not compatible with Icom transceivers' voltage.
Hearing is believing! The FIN is on live display in the Universal Showroom.
