The GRE PSR-500 employs cutting edge technology to bring a high level of performance and innovative features. The intuitive Object Oriented User Interface is designed for ease of use, yet powerful enough to satisfy the most sophisticated experts. This model clearly raises the bar in the area of advanced trunking scanners. Frequency coverage is extensive including: 25-54, 108-174, 216-512, 764-824, 849-869, 896-960 and 1240-1300 MHz. 1800 memories are available and may be dynamically structured to bank sizes you prefer. A sophisticated Service Search is featured. Click here to view default tuning steps and modes. This model also employs GRE's V-Scanner Technology that allows you to save a complete radio configurations within the radio, for recall into main memory as needed in the field. You can store configurations for different geographical areas or usage styles. Twenty one Virtual-Scanner Folders are provided, each capable of storing over 1,800 objects. The PSR-500 scans most common trunked radio system signaling formats, including Motorola, EDACS, LTR and P25 trunked radio networks. Talkgroup and individual call monitoring is supported. When monitoring P25 digital systems, GRE's exclusive Automatic Adaptive Digital Tracking instantly adapts the digital decoder to the digital modulation format of the transmitted signal, then analyzes the signal over 50 times each second and adapts to any subtle changes caused by multipath or fading. No cumbersome manual adjustments are required. CTCSS and DCS subaudible squelch coding is processed by the same powerful DSP chip that is used for P25 digital decoding. It provides fast and reliable decoding of subaudible squelch signaling with squelch tail elimination. The large backlit LCD is four lines by 16 characters. The keypad is also backlit. Supported trunking systems include Motorola Analog, EDACS, LTR and Digital APCO (9600 bps). There is a weather alert function, SAME technology and Skywarn features. One of the most innovative features of this radio is its programmable, multi-colored, super bright LED. You can see it from across the room. And you can program the color for the channel received. For example; blue for police, red for fire, green for your favorite ham frequency, etc. The SKYWARN Storm Spotter feature provides instant, one button access to frequencies used by storm spotter networks. There is a useful spectrum sweeper function that seeks out nearby RF sources. Operates from four AA cells or external 9VDC. Supplied accessories include: BNC antenna, GRE-America USB PC cable, Owner's Manual CD, belt clip and two battery cases (one for alklalines and one for rechargeable). This model is essentially the hand-held version of the PSR-600.
