The Whistler WS1088 allows you to listen to desired communications without PC or Internet programming because everything is already in the scanner! The scanner includes a 2GB SD card inside the radio with the entire US database of trunked systems and popular conventional frequencies so you can monitor local police/fire and emergency frequencies right out of the box. So no matter where you are in the USA, you can easily and instantly access the analog trunking systems and conventional frequencies of interest. Frequency coverage includes:  25-54, 108-136.99, 137-174, 216-512, 764-781.99, 791-798.99, 806-960 (excluding cellular bands), 1240-1300 MHz. Frequency step:  3.125, 5, 6.25, 7.5, 8.33, 10, 12.5 and 25 kHz. The large backlit LCD utilizes icons to give you the exact status of your radio. The radio is highly configurable to your own operating preferences. Operates from four AA cells (not included) or USB 5 VDC. Requires a PC with Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8. Includes a printed manual and a quick-start-guide, belt clip, PC USB data cable. If you are using rechargeable AA cells (not included), you can charge them internally via the supplied USB cable. This supplied cable could be plugged into the USB port of a computer or a USB charger such as item #2946 below (sold separately). Protected by Whistler's one year limited warranty.

The WS1088 has a full backlit alphanumeric keypad in addition to the familiar Scan, Pause, Select and Navigation controls. A raised homing bar on the #5 key, various button shapes, and different backlight features improve accessibility. The full keyboard allows you to easily create new and edit Trunked systems, Sites, and Talkgroups directly from the scanner without the use of a pc for when you are on the go. A PC program (EZ Scan) is provided for additional customization.

The Whistler WS1088 is multi-system adaptive digital trunking scanners with Motorola P25 Phase I, X2-TDMA and Phase II capabilities. All USA/Canada services and frequencies are pre-programmed onto the included SD card making them ready to use out of the box – they can even be programmed by entering your ZIP code.
