The Icom IC-R1 is a super wideband receiver covering from 100 kHz to 800 MHz and 900-1300 MHz that fits in your hand. (Specifications are guaranteed from 2 to 905 MHz). Reception modes include: AM, FM and FM-Wide. This is the smallest wideband receiver available (measuring only 1.9 x 4 x 1.4 inches), yet is equipped with many advanced functions. Most handheld receivers have only direct keyboard selection. The R-15 also includes a tuning control for easier frequency selection with the added feel of a communications receiver. Eleven different tuning steps are provided: 0.5, 5, 8, 9, 10, 12.5, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 50 kHz. Moreover, 100 kHz, 1 MHz and 100 MHz steps are also used as the dial select function. A sophisticated 100 channel memory system stores frequency, mode and skip functions. You can even mask memories. Five types of scanning are supported: programmed scan, memory scan, selected mode memory scan and auto memory write scan. A built-in 24 hour clock and automatic timer will turn the receiver on or off for convenient scheduled listening. The R1-15 has a built-in Ni-Cad battery or will operate from optional battery packs for longer periods. Other conveniences include a power saver function, adjustable LCD contrast, one touch squelch monitor, a signal indicator. The top of the radio features jack for: earphone, Line Output and External DC input with battery charge capability. Includes BC-74A wall charger, BNC rubber duck antenna and belt clip. Special note: the R1-15 is not a strong medium wave performer.
The IC-R1 GOVT is the same as the R1-15, but without the 800-900 MHz gap. The R1 GOVT could be purchased via government or commercial purchase order only. |
